The "Battle of Jackson Crossroads" a Civil War Reenactment event, is sponsored and hosted by The Living History Association of Jackson, Louisiana, Inc.  We are a (501c3) Non-Profit Organization operating in compliance with these regulations and the laws of the State of Louisiana.

   The purpose of our organization is to promote a greater appreciation and a better understanding of Louisiana citizens and America in the 19th century, specifically the early 1860's.

   We are devoted to creating, researching, and demonstrating accurate impressions of this time period to all interested parties.  Our forefathers and mothers bore a heavy burden just trying to live everyday life in a time that was hard and unforgiving, let alone being in the midst of a war that would change the nation for all.  We strive to excite the minds of children and adults alike, with and through our demonstrations of living history. Come and join us at our annual re-enactment in April. You can experience the "Step Back In Time"

 

 Living History Association of Jackson Louisiana wishes a grateful thank you to all the reenactors and sutlers that attended the April 2009 "Battle of Jackson Crossroads Event" together we made a memorable event for all. We hope you all enjoyed the great weather and will come back next year to an even better event. Please keep checking back here for the updates and information on next year's event. We will make updates and changes weekly.

Sutlers, Vendors, and Reenactor Units

The registration forms are posted, download, fill them out and send in your info. There are cut-off dates for pre-registration. Reenactor units have until Feb. 15th at no charge. After that date there is a small fee.

 

April 2010 Event "Education Day"

   The 19th Annual reenactment of "Battle of Jackson Crossroads" will be held in Jackson, Louisiana on April 23rd, 24th, and 25th, 2010.

   We welcome one and all to come and join us in recreating a living history event that everyone can appreciate and enjoy. We want everyone to come away with a greater and accurate understanding of the history of that time period.

   The 23rd, the first day of the event is dedicated as "Education Day" and will have demonstrations of how people of that time period functioned and coped with the realities of just living, in a time of turmoil for all concerned.

   There are demonstrations of cooking, washing, knitting, food use and what was available then, weaving, spinning and everday life of the citizens of those times. As well as many other areas of interest of history.   To register for the 23rd school day event, go to the menu and click on "registration forms, when new window opens click on school day registration.

 

Civil War Engagements at Jackson, Louisiana

 Civil War Engagements, the continuing war for the control of the Mississippi River in the summer of 1863 is remembered primarily by the major siege operations, which took place at Vicksburg, Mississippi and Port Hudson, Louisiana.  As a result of these campaigns, many smaller actions took place in communities of less strategic value, which otherwise may never have directly experienced the sights and sound of battle.

Come and join us in reenacting the Battle of Jackson Crossroads. Help us run the Great Spy Chase with The Old Hickory Railroad as well as the train robbery. It is great fun, and if you have been here before spectators and reenactors alike,  you know it will be better than ever.
